Stuffed Turkey


Ingredients:

1 whole turkey (approximately 5 kg)
1 large onion (chopped)
3 celery stalks (chopped)
2 carrots (chopped)
4 cups cornbread or stale bread (cubed)
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups chicken broth
Salt, pepper and herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary) to taste

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Sauté the onion, celery and carrots in the butter. Add the bread cubes and mix well.
Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper and herbs. Stuff with the bread mixture.
Place the turkey on a tray, cover with aluminum foil and roast for about 4 hours, basting with the broth every 30 minutes.
Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes to brown.
